Composed by R’ Yaakov Mordechai Bespalov (1855-1905), the Rav of Poltave, Ukraine, who sung this melody during his prayers . This nigun was a favorite of our dear teacher-friend, R’ Sholom Brodt ob”m, and he would sing it every Shabbos afternoon. He is so deeply missed, and feels so present in this album. This nigun is one of my father’s favorites, may he live and be well!, and this recording is dedicated to him as well, in profound thanks for sewing the seeds of this album, by teaching me so many of the nigunim I am lucky to know, and for passing on his deep love and honor of these nigunim and the traditions around them.
Dedicated with love, to my dear teacher friend, R Sholom Brodt, ob”m
