A tender and old Hasidic nigun in Yiddish and Hebrew. I remember hearing and learning this nigun when I was just four or five years old, and singing it always brings me right back to my childhood apartment in Crown Heights, Brooklyn. There are elements in this nigun that are reminiscent of other important Chabad melodies, which has always been precious to me. I most love the use of the informal “Du” in Yiddish, which invites the singer to converse intimately with the Divine, so close, eye-to-eye.
